Halloween Costumes- with a plant theme

If you're looking for creative Halloween costumes, why not express your obsession for plants and all things relating to gardening? At least that's my ideal when it comes to Halloween costumes.

Halloween costumes I've actually worn in the past that you might like to try:

1. Black-Eyed Peas. Dress in green and tape a label from a box of frozen peas to yourself. Then black out your eye with some eyeliner.

2. Stalk of corn. Tease your hair up really high- this works best if you have long blonde hair- and spray with gold glitter. Dress in beige and tape leaves to yourself made out of golden tissue paper.

Any other fun ideas?

Hi Nelumbo,

When my daughter was a toddler I dressed her as a flower - sewed a circlet of fabric petals to make a headpiece that tied under her chin, so her face was the center of the daisy and then had green felt leaves on her hands and shoes.

It was pretty adorable. She grew up to make wonderful gardens at her own house.

I had a good friend fly up to Michigan for a Halloween party I had (years ago, when I was in graduate school) - she 'checked' a huge box, and so when we got it from the baggage carousel, she opened it - and it was a huge wire cage that had been threaded with arborvitae branches (real ones). So my friend came to the party as an upright arborvitae. It was hilarious.

Hi Nelumbo,

You don't know me, but I've been quietly enjoying your blog and I've tagged you for the 8 Random Things Meme. Hope you'll participate!

Was thinking more along the lines of kids dressed as a hand of bananas.
Chaos will most definitely ensue.

You could dress in all red, seat pants and a fuaay sweater or something, with a flat top hat. On the hat, green or spray painted green, attach some fabric looking like the top of a tomato. Introduce yourself as Tom Ato when asked what/who you are. Should be fun and simple.
