More butterflies!

I've gone camera-crazy again this summer a few times, taking lots of pictures of the butterflies that frequent the lantana (Miss Huff). I liked this picture since it's a little different to see the "underbelly" of a butterfly.

[OK, plant disclaimer, lantana could be invasive in your state and doesn't look that great in winter. But if you plant it responsibly, it's great. In fact you might already be in love with it. A drought tolerant butterfly magnet!]

My mother does not understand why I plant lantana. Where she grew up in Florida, it grew along side the road. She calls it a weed. Well, there are some weeds that I like, and I think lantana is a pretty plant.
Thw swallowtails are the only butterflies that I hae seen in my yard, so far. Your pictures came out great - mine were washed out. and the wings looked pale.

Love your photo of that butterfly. Often we see butterflies from their back showing their beautiful wings. In your photo however, the body of the butterfly is seen which looks equally interesting.

I like the pic of the butterflies. I usally see them when i am relaxing int the garden listening to the wind moving the bamboo wind chimes that i have. It is nice to have that kind of connection with the butterflies at my house. Do you happen to get humming birds there?
